Helpful navigation tips for our site: REFRESH: We update frequently so be sure to refresh your browser to see any changes. TIME STAMP: On the upper left there is usually a date and time showing when the page was created or updated. CHECK BOTTOM OF PAGE: If you see a recent date, that indicates something new is on the page and often it will be added to the BOTTOM OF THE PAGE. (that's because it is much easier to simply add it to the bottom as compared to moving dozens of photos and text boxes to make room at the top of a page). ENLARGE PHOTOS: Almost all photos will expand when you click on them. Those that have a plus sign when you hover your cursor over the photo can be enlarged even further. YELLOW LINKS: Links are almost always in YELLOW unless I just happen to miss doing that. Otherwise they will be the standard blue color. SITE MAP: It's your friend! I've been adding pages to this site for years and it has become a monster. But, it is a manageable monster. It's easy to get lost and confused and the site map will likely help you find your way back home. Look for site map links on the upper right of most pages. I've also added it to most navigation bars as well as the 'go to' drop-down menu. "GO TO": Almost every page has a 'go to' drop down menu with a link to home, the site map, and most of my other presences on the web such as ebay, flickr, twitter, zazzle, etc. |
The Tucson Show Report continues right where we left off: The Mineral City show! Wendel Minerals has some fantastic mineral specimens. He also had one of the best set-ups with cabinets with smooth rolling drawers. Below is a hematite "Kidney Ore" specimen ($3,500) An Austrian Emerald (Habachtal or Halbachtal) and an Azurite crystal. A friend of mine got the Azurite and this photo doesn't do it justice. I'll likely add better photos of it later. |
All photos will expand at least once when you click on it. Some will even expand a second time to fill your whole screen, so if you see a "+" sign after clicking once, this means it will expand even larger. |
2019 Tucson Gem Show Report Updated March 1, 2019 12:00 PM Eastern The New Mineral City Show - part two. You are on Page Four. |
Also at Wendel Minerals at the new Mineral City Show on Lester Street: a large amethyst point from the Anahi mine in Bolivia (pictured above and at left). This is one of the best amethyst points that I have seen from there as most are heavily damaged and/or have polished faces. |
Below are photos of assorted Zeolite minerals from India. Note the peculiar localities noted on some of the cards. Community wells are dug in India and when they are dug a close eye is kept for mineral specimens. Many of the mineral specimens from India come from the digging of large community wells. That is unique to that part of the world as that certainly doesn't happen here in the USA. These photos were taken at the new Mineral City show (some photos were also taken at the adjacent Sun Gemstone Plaza). |
I also took some pictures at the same venue(s) of large amethyst crystals from the Anahi mine. The one immediately below wieghs 80 pounds and some weighed much more than that! |
Also at the Mineral City Show is Paul Botha from South Africa with a selection of minerals from South Africa and Namibia. Paul had some nice amethyst spirit cactus quartz for sale by the flat. |
After some time at the Mineral City Show I headed off down the street to check out some Moroccan minerals. This year the Morocco section had some incredible specimens! CLICK HERE to check out photos of the new minerals from Morocco as my 2019 Tucson Show Report continues on the next page. |
A few years ago I started a tradition of buying one of the year's new Silver Eagles from Old Pueblo Coin. I'm starting to have a nice stack and I wished that I had started doing this on my first trip years ago. |
ALL MINERALS ON THIS PAGE WERE AT THE NEW MINERAL CITY SHOW AND/OR SUN GEMSTONE PLAZA ON LESTER STREET. |
I do have single specimens of spirit cactus quartz for sale at my Rock Shop in McDonough, Ga. |
